Kegerator. Build or buy?

Or you could build a keezer. £80 for a freezer, £20 for timber to make collar, £140 for 4 flow control taps., £20 for manifold, £50 for a regulator cost of beer and gas lines. Plus Co2.

Not wishing to hijack the thread. But an update. Tap fitted and kegs installed. Just need to run the gas in , but a test showed that 5° is too cold , so I have raised to 10° and will see how that goes.

I also use a reducer through the drain hole and it works fine, in fact I managed to fit two gas pipes through it (one for co2 and one for nitrogen).

Have you thought about getting your manifold/tubing/fittings etc on AliExpress? You could save quite a bit there and shipping is reasonable and small items like that, not sure about tape and manifolds as I bought mine from BKT but generally use AliExpress for small items

I bought all the taps and manifolds from AliExpres. JG stuff I got from brewkegtap and then all the extra bits ( I forgot to buy first time ) I got from AliExpress again. Saved a significant amount of money.

I made this from a freezer… first thing I’ve ever made! Benefit is the C02 is inside. It’s just a bit of 3x2, a scaffold plank and the remnants of my old shed! Took sometime to decide on style and when I build my next one I’m going for a bigger freezer for 4 or 5 taps!

I use a reducer through the drain. The pressure on the regulator is the pressure of your system.

Do you go back to 3//8 to connect to manifold or keep with 3/16?

I go back to 3/8. The only reduced bit in my entire gas system is the short length through the drain hole

In terms of the frame to sit 3 kegs on could someone advise on what specs needed to support 3 cornies MDF ok? What thickness for sides and top? Will probably order it cut to go and glue it together.

I would prefer ply to MDF. MDF doesn't like moisture. 10mm should be fine, in previous builds I have used that thickness because it slotted in the shelve runners. For the legs I used some 2x2. Check out my brewday thread for latest build which includes photos

So. Got the gas plumbed in ...three taps on .. nice project. Made to a budget and use not looks ...give it a go. What's the worst that can happen?

Left to do... Build another two beer lines (parts in post) and keg some beer .

except that is a drip tray which i need to order now

for a 3 tap kegerator would 30 cm tray be enough? also what size screws would people suggest?

Can't remember what size screws I used. Just any small ones I had in the garage. I didn't bolt, just screw, leaving a but sticking out so it's easy to remove and clean.
