Just ran a pint off of me second brew after returning to home brewing. Edme Irish Stout kit brewed with 750 grams of unrefined dark brown sugar and 350 grams of brewing sugar. Only been a week conditioning in the barrel and already tasting quite nice ... This was a sample after all :-)

Far better than the Young's bitter I did as my first brew already, another week or two it's gonna be quite good for a 1 tin kit !

Reading this, I just had to go and buy one on my lunch break. Now I have to decide what to ferment it with, and if I should bottle or stick in a corny.

How would you describe the flavour, similar to anything?

The unrefined dark brown sugar certainly gives it a very rich almost "christmas puddingy" taste. Using this sugar was recommended to me by someone who's done a few of these stout kits...
