im just wondering how much priming sugar to add to a 500ml bottle since this is my first attempt and cant batch prime at the mo..any help would be great

well depends what beer it is , but often half a teas spoon . i do hefweizen and i do 150g per 22l and others do bitters at around 80/100g ,

depends how fizzy you want it ........

...... but wouldn't go above half a level teaspoon, then leave in warm for a couple of weeks, then into cold for at least another 4 weeks, but if like anyone else an odd one will be opened sooner

A level teaspoon of sugar scraped flat with the back of a knife weighed in at 3g :geek:

have a read of this, might give you some ideas :ugeek:

thanks guys, i have some measuring spoons, i think i undercarbonated my coopers stout in a 500ml bottle i used one of their carbination drops....im trying it now...yep couldnt wait 2 weeks in the warm and 1 in the fridge so far, but not a lot of fizz and very little head...am i expecting too much at this stage?

the brew will probably remain flat until well into the 2nd week in warmth after priming and bottling, its understandable to taste one but it will bear no resemblance to the finished beer and will usually disappoint.

If you are using cooks measuring spoons...half a teaspoon weighs in at 3 gms That is amble for ales and beers. use a bit more for lagers. ( in 500ml bottles )
