Hi guys, had an assessment day yesterday with a large brewery, what a day! Very hard had online psychometric tests for 11/2hrs last week then yesterday was tech rig assessment, tech interview, scenario exercise where a bottling line has gone **** up and you explain your rationale behind your repair strategy then finally you had to give a PowerPoint presentation on information that had been previously sent to you.
My god I'm getting too old for this shizzle!

The interesting thing is when chatting to the maint manager for the brewery side he said that the yeast is used for 10 generations then sent to Marmite!

This job will be responsible for the maintenance planning etc for a new bottling line and they want you to study for the brewing certificate! So fingers crossed.

Now I've said all that I probably won't get it. Lol!

Good luck with your application baldbrewer :thumb:
I've noticed a few brewing jobs available lately....but I am nowhere near head brewer status and I could not afford to take the drop in salary to become an apprentice, much as I'd love to.
I'm still dreaming of my lottery win and building a 'community brewery facility'.

Let us know how it works out please.

fingers crossed

im looking for my next job aswell

where did you lot find these brewing jobs if you don't mind me asking?
PM if you want ;)

Well I wasn't looking for brewery specifically but I use:
Cv library , also "linked in" is a good source of potential employment.
Many breweries have vacancies on their websites. :thumb:

cheers fella

cv libaray is one i missed
on all the others
registered for another 3 today suppose another wont hurt

When I worked in Tolly's brewery in 1967 we got 6 pints of beer a day to drink while we worked. I suppose its different now? :drink:

6 pints a day wow!
I believe you get a pint a day voucher for the social club and 2 cases a month for 9 months of the year!
Weight gain is a common occurance ;-)

Good luck Simon....hope your succesful

Good luck, hard work but a labour of love hopefully. Yeast mutates each time it's reused and 10 X is considered a significant mutation and it's common to ditch after 10 repitchings.

I believe the Northampton brewery has a glass case above the huge array of technical equipment containing a homebrew kit, labelled "IN EMERGENCY BREAK GLASS". You might come in handy with your experience then

Re khs and gpi correct!
I've worked on khs stuff at my previous employer soft drink manufacturer not Pepsi ;-)

And the GPI used to be known to us as "Riverwood"

Me too! Current job role changed within a week of starting! Anybody else had that unsavoury tactic pulled on them?

Only once, I don't work there any longer :)

Had my job description changed a few times with this lot, but mainly at my prompting, and where it's not been what I wanted to do next it's turned out to be fun and educational :) After 13 years with this lot I dread having to break myself into a new employer I doubt I'll find one this accomodating :(
