As I sit and wait for some cornies to come available in my neck of the woods I have read that Italian Cornies are more sought after. Why is that? (if true) To me a metal container is a metal container, but I would rather ask questions than to remain stupid.....

The main manufacturer of Corny Kegs is a company called AEB and guess what - they're based in Italy :)

There's also quite a few copies that arrive from the far east of varying quality. I'm sure the majority are fine but the grade of stainless steel used, the manufacturing tolerances, the welds etc. may not be quite as good as the AEB ones. You pays your money etc. The HomeBrew Company sells reconditioned kegs for a good price, currently about £143 for 3, I'll probably be getting some from them as and when funds allow.

If you can get that to align with St. Patricks day then, if 2018 is the same as the last couple of years, HBC will put an additional discount on them. 10% or 15% if I remember rightly.

I would say that Italy has a general reputation for good stainless steel fabrication. I work in the textile industry and see a lot of Italian machinery. The large textile and wine industry in Italy probably creates the demand for highly skilled stainless steel fabricators.

Not sure why it didn't carry over to the car industry though. FIAT (Fix It Again Tony).
