Off to Italy next week. Wondered if there are any beers I should look out for whilst I'm there.

Other than Peroni and Moretti, I'm not sure I've heard of any Italian beers.

there's some really good small Brewers... can't remember the names right now though so... helpful!

Had a really good craft ale called Ulysses recently in Sicily. Not sure if its available on the mainland, but as Divrak said there are lots of small breweries around.

oh, le or la baladin is good. quite "crafty" so depends if you like that kind of thing or not.

Brewfist.
Birra Toccalmatto.
Birra Del Borgo.

All Italian craft beers available in UK, so should be widely available over there. Then again maybe not, I heard Spesh was popular in Italy.

in fairness I only tried a couple but they did a good kind of wit/saison type thing with herbs in if I remember right.

It is, well Tennants Super rather than Carlsberg Special Brew. it’s seen as a premium brand over there IIRC.

Edit: €5.60 for 500ml(https://www.bitterwallet.com/not-the-onion/italians-drink-like-scottish-tramps-63756)

I can proudly say I have never tasted spesh or Tennant super. What's the betting someone on here has done a clone...

Birra del Borgo have a good range. Look for KeTo RePorter (IIRC).

Brewfist - was underwhelmed by 'Spaceman'* but 'Spaghetti Western' is awesome.

* you've got the song in your head now.

I thought it wouls be all peroni when I went in 2016 but what a mistakes. Most supermarkets had excellent craft choices including dogfishhead which I haven't seen anywhere else.
Stayed on lake como and there were two craft breweries within 2 miles

Drinking some Cane Nero amber double malt at the moment. Pretty bitter and incredibly cloudy (blame my driving back from the supermarket). 7.2%.

Also have a bottle of blonde.

It depends on where you are going. In the north you have a good selection of craft breweries.. In the south, where I live, not so much (wine is king here). If going near Milan, try these craft breweries: Lambrate, Hammer, Extraomnes.
