I have just received one of these, and can anybody confirm that these work ok regarding wifi connection when in use and inside a metal box that is a fridge ?
Thanks, I've got it sending readings to brewfather whilst it is in the house, however when I put it in the brew fridge to test it out the readings stopped, so before I splash out on a range extender I just wanted to rule out any issue with it being in a metal box (fridge)
If you put the iSpindel in config mode it transmits its own wifi signal. You can gauge the signal strength and distance with a smart phone just by going to its wifi settings. Walk away until the signal drops to one bar. That's where your router or extender needs to be.
My fermentation fridge is in the garage across the yard from the back of our house. Surprisingly the meagre WiFi signal is good enough and Brewfather links to my ispindel with no issues.
