First time brew question here so sorry for the newbie question.

My brew of IPA has been brewing now for 7 days at the start there was a good frothy head on top. Now I came home from work yesterday and the froth has nearly all gone, is that normal?

Ye it's probably fine, don't worry. The primary fermentation is drawing to a close, which means there is very little CO2 production so the foam (krausen) naturally disperses.

As Pinto says, it'll normally go off like a fire-cracker and then die down after a few days. Often, the only sign that there was any activity at all is the remnants on the sides and sometimes the lid.

If you have a hydrometer you need to take a reading. Once you have 3 readings the same over 3 days fermentation has stopped. Leave it at your fermemntation temp for few more days. This is important as it allows the yeast to digest some of the biproducts produced early on in fermentation. Once this is done move it somewhere cool for about a week so that it clears, then it will be ready for bottling.
