Coopers heritage with malt extract (what it says to use) and 250g sugar, been about 12 days smells fine but strange clumps on surface and the beer had loads of particles in it, it still has bubbles rising, never had this before has something gone wrong? ive thought about transfering to another FV with a sieve in between to try and remove the clumps

taste and see... better yet, send me a bottle and i'll check for you! :thumb:

Afraid the picture is a little too small on my screen to make out though. Why do you think there's something wrong with it?

Relax, Don't worry, have a homebrew! It'll be fine. If the hydrometer readings are consistant after 2 or 3 days rack it to a bottling bucket and bottle away.

i couldnt bottle the way it is the brew is full of lumps of ***** and all the stuff on top looks like an infection even though it smells fine

That's just yeast crud.

If your hydrometer readings are roughly right for FG and stable get it in the bottles and get another one on.

its going to go in a barrel anyway, il leave a few days me thinks as still a lot of bubbles, then il sieve before barrel just for piece of mind :) thanks

yeah it looks like bits of extract and yeast , looks fine to me . Be warned about sieving , don't splash beer etc as this will introduce oxygen into the beer which will send it off . you should be fine just syphon into a fresh fv when ready then bottle , most of the crap will remain in fv 1 .

Just siphon it. The crud gets drawn to the side and sticks as the level drops.

Even if you do get a bit of crud transferred it'll settle out by the time it's ready to drink.

Not worth risking oxidation putting it though a sieve. If you really want to filter when you transfer, use a sterilised fine mesh bag over the FV end of your siphon tube.
