Hi all, been around and brewing since October and done some Beaverdale Kits and then moved to WOW recipes taken from here, also got a Rhubarb wine and a Nettle wine on the go (long term project). Had some really good results so far so thought lets try a bit of a mix up

19/6/2012 - Start

1L Aldi Rio Dora Red Grape Juice
1L Aldi Rio Dora Orange Juice with Juicy Bits
1L Aldi Rio Dora Mixed Fruit Juice (Grape Juice Main)
900gm Sugar
1 x Earl Grey, 1 x Yorkshire Tea
1tsb of each of the following, Ritchies Bentonite, Youngs Pectolase, Youngs Yeast Nutrient & Youngs Super Yeast Compound

7/7/2012 - Racked to new DJ, added Campden Tablet and topped up with Aldi Rio Dora Red Grape Juice

26/7/2012 - Added two part finings

31/7/2012 - Bottled

For the first time the OH said "WOW" when tasting the leftovers from bottling and said she would drink it straight away rather than insisting it was laid down for a month.

Off to Aldi today to get the ingredients to make another 2 Gallons but thought I would share my recipe, really nice Ruby colour and looks very similar in depth to the Beaverdale Chablis Blush I bottled the other day.

I make WOW varients all the time. You can vary the ingredients at will if you like and they all seem to come out good. If you do use OJ I would avoid the ones with bits. Only because the bits just sink and you end up with more lees. The trick with juice wines is to keep the 1:1 ratio or slightly in favour of grape. I make 25 lt batches and usually use 5 or 6 grape to 5 juice of various flavours.

Quick update on this, we had a bottle on Saturday night and it was excellent after only two weeks!! Rather strong as well

Went to aldi to buy more ingredients and they are not doing the plain mixed fruit at the moment but only the tropical or exotic style as a special. Bought a tropical to give it a go so will let you know

Might lower the sugar slightly because it really did have a hit but then again!!

Sounds good, I was thinking about putting mixed berries into a wine. Did the teabags have much effect?

I like the idea of this because swmbo only really likes kit wines so I need a pretty good recipe to win her over. My first original recipe WOW had no flavour at all. (undoubtedly my fault as people rave about how good it is!)

Am I right in thinking this is 3 litres of juice to one demijon? So not really the 1:1 ratio of a normal wow and no allowance for the extra sugar in the extra litre of juice? Have you done 1:1 WOWs in the past and how does this compare?

I've just done a red grape and apple and it smells pretty good!

Hi yes it's 3l per dj and I did kind of allow for the extra sugar in the juice but wanted a stronger wine hence the 900gm. Should prob reduce it for a easier drinking wine cos it's a bit of a monster.

However it got well drunk and got us well drunk!!
