Hi folks.

I am fermenting my second batch of kit wine which said it was a 7 day kit....however it has run into 10 days at the moment. The hydrometer read 1.090 at the start and currently reads 1.004. The air lock has stopped bubbling and the sample of wine I have taken tastes ok but fizzy.

Anyone any suggestions as to whether I should add stabiliser and finings or should I wait a while longer?

Cheers

Anthony

I'd leave it for a couple more days, 7 days is an estimate and marketing ploy, under ideal conditions maybe 7 days but factors such as temp' variations, water quality and yeast age etc all play their part. Most wine kits expect a reading of 0.994 or below before adding stabiliser.
