Hi guys I kegged my xmas stout 2 weeks ago so had a cheeky half before moving it to the shed but it smelt and tasted of pear drops :shock: has it gone off/become infected?
 
Esters are the cause not infection.

causes

poor aeration

high brew temps

certain yeasts
 
A dark malty beer and you won't be able to tell, the lighter the beer the more pronounced it will be. Nothing bad will happen it will just taste odd
