I've been having issues with my first AG for a couple of weeks now, it stopped fermenting at 1018 about a week after brewing and I've tried stirring, warming and extra yeasties to get it to drop the extra 5 points. I decided to check it again today and then bottle tomorrow no matter what it had done, it's still at 1018, but has visitors.

It doesn't smell or taste foul, maybe a slight vinegar taint ( or that may be me being paranoid )

So what is it and do I chuck it?

it looks like mycelium i get it a lot in fruit wines wen it happens i just skem it off and add a crushed campden tablet if it works in wine shoud work in beer . maybe its just a bit cold to femment at the mo try a brew belt or put it next to a raidator

It looks like you've been getting a bit too excited over your first ag! :D tissues will solve that next time

ewwwwwww

Actually I've been looking at a certain American site and the view on there seems to be that nothing can grow in beer that'll kill you, so bottle it anyway and drink it quick.... mind you these are Americans!

Like the other guys say...."won't kill ya"

It's all down to your own taste....if you can drink it do so...my last brew didn't turn out like I wanted it to..taste's ok but I find I'm leaving the last 5mm in the glass...it just don't have it...pour another bottle and away we go again. :thumb:

The other thing to do give to everyone you know as Christmas prezzies.... problem solved

Sorry to say I had that on a bitter a month ago. I had left it to long, I tried removing it by dropping into another FV but it was still their a few days latter. When I came to bottle it, it tasted sour and of vinegar   , so sorry to say 10 gallons down the drain. I am now bottling a lot quicker.

AG

ive had similar on both of my last brews..... :?
it was a very light film,[less than on those pics] i tasted and bottled the brews they have both turned out ok

i think i need to brew somewhere warmer, and bottle sooner... :wha:

Well I've gone ahead and bottled it (much less of a chore now I've invested in some Star San and a bottle tree), now to wait and see what it's like in a few weeks.

You've done the right thing Keith.... nothing ventured nothing gained! :thumb:
I had 19L of an AG brew which smelt strongly of vinegar... I was gutted and decided to go ahead and bottle half of it (tipped the rest). Almost 3 weeks in the bottle and the beer is coming along nicely.... no vinegar at all. I only wish I had bottled it all!
