What works best for clearing ales?

I have only used finings and am trying to get a clearer ale.
I have over time increased my sparging time, recirculating the first runnings.
I am getting my boil going at a good rolling boil, and then cooling quite quickly using a immersion cooler (but not too quickly for the late hop additions to impart flavour).

I am under the impression this should all help the beer clear.
But it hasn't been, so should i change to using Irish moss, or use both?!?

Cheers

You should use Irish moss or kettle finnings as a matter of course as you will struggle to get it to clear otherwise. If you use irish moss (or protofloc) you can still clear with finings after fermentation if need be. :thumb:

Thank you for the clear consise and speedy reply!

Irish moss just went to the top of my shopping list.

I always use Irish Moss so I can't comment what its like without but my brightest beers have occurred when I used a sachet of gelatin as finings.

I use Irish Moss but I still get a good bit of chill haze. Probably because it doesn't get long enough to clear out after I cool it. As others have said use both.

Out of interest has anyone ever used WLN4000 CLARITY-FERM enzyme while fermenting?
