Ive been brewing my first ever beer,
Followed all the instructions i got with the ingredients,
Checked my hydrometer reading on thursday (the day the instructions said it would be ready) and the reading was 1020,

Instructions say that if its a little high to leave a few more days then continue to keg even if its a little high,

Checked it tonight (tonight is 12th day when kit said 8 day primary fermentation) and it still reads 1020 :S

What do i do guys? Its an english kit, by bulldog brewery, im well and truely stumped on what to do

Thanks

For starters, I would ignore the timing in the instructions, they are optimistic to say the least.

Having said that, I would expect it to be below 1.020 after 14 days.

What was your OG?
What temp is it sitting at?

It may well be stuck, you could give it a gentle stir with a sterilised spoon.

1.020 would be ok for a really heavy brew with lots of complex sugars in it - seems (very) high for an IPA. If you are going to open it up and stir it you may as well pitch a new pack of yeast in while you're there just in case...

Totally forgot to get my OG reading, its been at a constant 20 degrees c,

Ive just opened the lid and gave it a stir, hope it drops in a few days
