I found this set-up,

$(KGrHqJ,!jgE95Brlv5,BPlkrn)!Qw~~48_20.JPG

And was wondering if some-one here can give me some info on it ?

Would I need bottles and hoses ?
If not, could I carbonate straight in the Keg and use the tap to get the product out ?
How exactly does this system work ?
What would I need to fill it ?

Don't want to purchase and then sit with something I can not use !

Interesting looking thing!

Is that effectively a keg in the bottom of it? Does it have a 'gas in' connection on it somewhere?

Some more details would be helpful unless someone on here has seen one before!

Where did you get it?

German thing. Tap has compensator (kompensatprzapfhahn), it fits 5 litre minikegs I think.

Most of German breweries sell beer in minikegs (partyfass) at relatively low price, about 10 EUR apiece. But it's of no use for homebrewer because these minikegs are different system than these 5ltr minikegs you can buy.

If you dismantle it you'd have complete tap that can be used with cornie in kegerator.

Thanks for the replys, but I still don't know if I should buy it or not...

Would I be able to put my homebrew in the minikeg and use the tap without any gas bottles or hoses ?

How does the compensator in the tap work ?

Would I have to carbonate naturally in the minikeg ?

I've never kegged, and the "corny" kegs and other fittings/hoses etc are not really very accessible in South Africa, so this set-up might be of some worth to me, but don't want to use bottles / hoses etc.

Any advice / assistance appreciated.

In the state "as is" it's unusable for homebrewers. Only of any value as parts donor for kegerator build.

Compensator works by changing the flow rate of beer through the line and changing its pressure. If you have heavily carbed beer like weizen you open the small tap fully and close it if the beer is mildly carbed. This way you can have various beers on single line length and it will not foam excessively in any case.

Thanks z,

Almost purchased something that would have been useless to me.

Shows you how after starting this hobby, anything related to beer becomes something of interest, and sometimes one can get sold by the idea alone wayyy to easily.
