I think it will carbonate on its own if you are definitely going to leave it for a couple of years. Aleman is the best man to ask as he has done some over the years.

I didn't prime an IPA and it was flat for the first year. Its now 6 years in the bottle and is carbonated perfectly - it doesn't taste very good though. :lol:
 
I'd be interested in an answer on this too.
I've had 17 litres of RIS in a corny since June and I don't really know what to do next :wha:
 
My first RIS did not carbonate right away. It took a good 6 months before it was drinkable, for me at least. Tasted fantastic though!
 
My 97 Imperial stout took a long time to carbonate . . . even the last two bottles opened this year were not over carbonated . . . Lesson Learned, add a small amount of priming sugar, and a small, 0.1g, amount of dried yeast . . . to ensure a good level of carbonation
