Now I like most genres of music..the radio is on all day in the truck...I can't be without my music...grew up through the 60s love the 70s & 80s. ..and a lot of todays stuff....I love youtube and spend the odd hour or so on a Sat morning while the memsahib has a lie in, catching up on anything and everything.

This morning I was surfing youtube and came upon a video by Eminem..(now I don't like rap did I mention that  ) or so I'd convinced myself.

This came up and it had me glued for the duration...now I'm 6' 2"...17 stone but It wiped the floor with me...WHY?? I was amazed....am I going through puberty again... oh no.

I was also amazed at the hits it had......55,697,991
then another one of his video had......263,674,089

ps...I only like rap a little bit...got to watch the street cred...

I don't particularly like rap but I do have most of Eminem's albums and some of his lyrics are very clever. You need to understand quite a bit about the man, his upbringing and his family before some tracks make any sense at all, but when you do they become even more powerful.

Check out “White America” or “Cleanin' out my closet”.

I too have the whole back cataloge, and agree with Moley you need to know whats happened in his life to understand the meanings of some of the songs. Stan is also a great song.

And the song Kim ;) Not that I have an evil ex.... :D.. or that I wish her any harm !!

last year I heard a song called "Stay too long" by Plan B. Now he's a british rapper, and not usualy my kind of music (I'm really a metalhead - really noisy shouty/screamy stuff), but this blew me away !

It's weird how I am with music now; it used to rule my life until I was about 30..

I agree with Moley. The guy has had a pretty fooked up life at times. I'm not a RAP fan but am quite happy to listen to a lot of Marshall's stuff. When I was racing I would listen to the intro to Loose yourself before taking to the track.

Cheers guys....no I don't know that much about him.. I think a search of the old t'internet is on the books...and also look up the tracks you've mentioned. :thumb:

As they say "your never to old to learn new things"...even the memsahib likes him..

ps..did you hear Canada has banned Dire Straits -" Money For Nothing"

Yes due to some reference to a friend of Dorothy or something on those lines, never did like that song though, even though dire straights are defo on my playlist, sultans of swing and brothers in arms are much better songs.

I don't get the rap trip though night as well be ice T "ice ice baby"

I have a very very varied taste in music from Rachmaniov to metalica to british folk to prog rock & even george micheal

You can keep your gangsta rappa stuff :thumb:

Oh FFS, because “that little (liver based meatball) got his own jet airplane” ?

I can't do YouTube links from this Mac, but the bawdy Aussie comic Kevin Bloody Wilson was requested to tone his language down a bit on his arrival to tour Canada, they would accept the ‘F’ word within moderation but didn't like the ‘C’ word.

He duly opened his act with a brand new song entitled “You can't say c**t in Canada”

and what a top song it is
i love his stuff

When I`ve hered his stuff all he seems to sing about is mother-f**kers. Nice bloke.

I have a Bloody Wilson CD..got it from a truckstop years back..
still listen to it now..and sing along to it....so if you ever hear on the 9pm news about a trucker being stopped for singing rude songs ..that will be moi..

I'm going to defend KBW to an extent, I know some people might consider his language unnecessary but that's just the way he talks. I don't have a problem with the ‘F’ word, I don't use it in every sentence like some people, but it's a good Anglo-Saxon word which I probably use several times a day. I do have a problem with the ‘C’ word and almost never use that, reserving it exclusively for my boss and his underling son. However, KBW uses it in everyday speech like we might say “the sods”. Once you accept that it loses all power to shock, and he doesn't use it to offend, unlike someone such as Chubby Brown who uses it more sparingly but with venom. Now HE makes me puke.

Agree 100% with the usage of the "C" word..never use it myself..Moley makes a good point about the "loss of power to shock" never thought of it like that.
Chubby Brown :nono: I put him in the same class as Bearnard Manning.
