So im brewing as i type,
ive done a few brews,, all of which went ok,but i didnt feel comfortable or in control really, i just went with the flow and a little panic,
today is the first time i felt confident and in control,
i used my home made mash tun for the first time, how easy was that!:thumb:

and i wrote the timings on the hops packets,so no last minute panics and no drama of looking at the recipe,

so far so good, feeling calm and in control,,,
Deep breath, puffs out chest and says in a manly voice

"I am a brewer " :thumb:

Thanks for all your help getting me this far guys.

Yup, as you become more experienced at the techniques the days seem to be easy with little or no faffing.

Only faf I have on brew days is feeding the garden hose through the window for the chiller coil.

I do the same with my wort chiller, a little faf.... but works very well :thumb:

Isn't it a great feeling? I have now completed 3 kits and 8 AG brews. The first couple of AG brews were stressful, but now I feel in control and able to make my own recipes. Like you I couldn't of done it without this forum.

I'm still on kits bar a bit of fiddling and the last three have gone like clockwork. ..all bang on 20°c pitch temp. Small things I know but it all adds to the satisfaction.

Cheers

Nice one , for more inexperienced brewers I would suggest writing out a cheat sheet before you start outlining the process and what happens when, with timings included. It doesn't take long for this to be come ingrained and you can dispense with teh sheet.

I still use a brewsheet even after 10 years with everything typed out beforehand even though I do make minor adjustments I can still track the changes against the original plan.
My first brew ever I forgot to put the hop filter on, now I check every time I brew.

If you "think" you have got the hang of this.....
then you have!! well done

Nice one yeastie, It.s a great feeling when you no longer need to think about the steps and can just dive in the kitchen and throw a brew together with whatever grain n hops you have in stock and know it'll be at worst nice and maybe even gorgeous

theres a device you can clamp to your tap so you can have a hose pipe connected to it! when i find the name or link i will post on here :)

I'm still at the "Is this right?" "That doesn't look right" stage but hope to be like you very soon. I also need to do an AG soon :thumb:

Good stuff. It's always nice when you feel like you've got this process 'dialed-in'. I still prefer following a recipe rather than freestyling it because I'm forgetful and am likely to mess up a particular beer style. Having said that I now feel like I have a 'house beer' that I could brew with my eyes closed (not that I would...burns take too long to heal.)
