Payday today  So I've just gone and ordered a 30L coolbox and a big pile of copper bits to convert it and knock up a wort chiller, I already have an Electrim bin from my previous homebrew attempts. Looks like AG #1 will be sometime in the next few weeks!

Oh dear my friend

Soon you will find the tun of mashings and the grain therin become a bewitching thing of ethereal beauty ........ :? the aromas that waft from the high altar of the dark side will permeate far and wide, making neighbours wide eyed with wonder at the smells wafting in the breeze, whilst producing fine wort clear and as beautiful as a mountain stream

The chanting of mysterious names whilst adding hops .... “challenger” then “fuggles during the mid boil” and “final aroma hops, styrean ” into the boiler might make none followers wonder what these names mean

Then of course there is the shiny place  which turns the head of all and makes strong men go all dewy eyed and wistful in wonderment at the shiny objects  some have even been known to become sexually aroused, making wives wonder about strange mutterings during sexual acts about cooling coils and the steel which is stainless

Once the journey to the dark side begins it is an easy path to follow :!: for you will realise that an AG brew is superior to anything else you have brewed :drunk: a good AG brew is a thing of delight and something admired by anyone who loves a beer

welcome my friend ............ to the dark side :thumb: not a place of evil or badness as some may think :?: but a place of magic and wonderment :!:

............... can we as mere mortals produce beers of such quality :?: :?: :?:

oh yes my friend ...... we can, maybe not totally understand initially ..... but we most certainly can

Blimey..... what will the response be like if I go shiney!

Thanks for the welcome, I suppose now I have to start posting pics of the kit :D Just waiting now for the postie.... oh and the end of the half term holidays.

Oh Mrs Keith is being very supportive at the moment.... probably something to do with the vast quantity of cheap wine on the go. I might be able to gradually slip the odd bit of shiney in there without too much compliant. But let's learn to walk before we run.

Nice one Keith :thumb:

I'm very lucky ....... Mrs C is happy for me to go fishing / brew beer etc, but after 30 years together and two brilliant kids up and gone, we're still the best of friends and still enjoy each others company

You will not be disappointed with the shadowy world of the Dark side, where you will sit and Meditate at the Mash tun on a regular basis, regular meditation can make your mind drift into the realm of the shiny, should it so wish.

Welcome to the fellowship of Yeast Breeders.

Just had a taste of my maiden AG and it tastes superb, you really won't regret it, plus its an enjoyable and relaxing few hours which gives you an enormous sense of self satisfaction after (without the need for p?rn). planning my second for this weekend 2 weeks after the first.
