Hyundai and KIA

I have an X5 plug in hybrid and a Peugeot 108, either end of the size scale, in fact I think the latter can fit in the former’s boot. Generally had the X5 and X3s before it for longer journeys as I can fit tons of crap needed for the kids, and the 108 was for local runarounds. However, found with the battery on the X5 I can eek out 40 odd miles so it’s cheaper to run than the Peugeot (although leccy costs may put pay to that).
By the way, I do know where the Indicators are on the X5 and do use them, I tend to drive it pretty sedately. It’s the Pug that’s the problem, I revert back to a 17 year old boy racer in it for some reason!

The Tucson, I believe is very good. I thought it was bigger than a Sportage - probably wrong.
Dutto will be along soon trying to off load his Trabant fleet.
There are so many variables..

I had a Tucson as a lease car from 2016-2018, it was a very spacious and capable car never had an issue with it and was sad to see it go.

That one was deleted from the range, Hyundai are masters at that, reintroduced later, could be 2020? With whatever the problems were fixed. My wife and I both drive the Hyundai i30.
Worst car I have had was a Mercedes, E class 250 great to drive, nightmare to maintain. $4000 dollars the yearly service. $2000 the intermediate service between the yearly service, $240 for an oil change!

I don't have a KIA but our second/my daily get to work car is a 2001 Skoda Octavia 2.0, the slightly higher clearance and 4-wheel drive version.
It's an old car and requires some maintenance once in a while,changing oil and filters and sparkplugs now and then, the ECT sensor gave up and I replaced it not too long ago and I need to get new brake discs and pads. But apart from replacing wear-and-tear parts it runs like a charm.
Not a car for luxurious comfort but if you want a cheap to buy car that reliably takes you from A to B, is cheap/easy to maintain if you have some basic mechanical skills and can take a beating, you can't really get anything better than an older Volvo or DKW(Skoda, VW, Seat etc).
SWMBO parents had an older KIA ceed GT, it runs ok but I think the newer models are vastly improved to what they used to be, same as Skoda. Just a shame you can't really DIY anything in a new one so when stuff starts wearing out it costs a fortune...

I guess nothing really its badge snobbery, i can guarantee the first time i go to work in my KIA at least one of the Ford *clitoris owners will ask why i bought a KIA and when i tell them i have a 7 year warrant and the car has everything you could possibly want on it and it cost thousands less than the ford equivalent they will still look down their noses at it.

*The Ford clitoris = every c**t has one!

If EV's weren't so rediculously expensive, I would be bashing the dealers door down for an Ioniq6

But alas, new cars are essentially hp/lease only nowadays unless you have a chunk of savings to throw at it and a willingness to sell the 'asset' on for max £££ at the end of 3/5 years and not just webuyanycar it.

Dealers/manufacturers really have put a massive financial strangle on the whole industry.
£50k for a half decent spec EV.
To buy that over 5 years is £1000 per month and then the hassle of selling it on. Or lease it for £600 a month. Most people do the latter even though they know it makes the dealer way more money overall.
'hey guys, I've got a great idea! Let's make all cars rediculously expensive so that punters can only get them on lease. We overprice the depreciation and make 10% minimum profit over the 3 years, then double the profit by selling it on at 3 years old as used approved with a 20% markup! '

They don't stand up well in the looks department when compared to todays SUV's but this model was manufactured in 2010 and back then i bet it was better than a lot of its competition.

I do love my Kia Sportage 1.7 diesel, fantastic car, had 5 years of the transferable 7 year warranty. Great driving position. Just feels solid, problem is getting the keys from the wife when I return from working overseas! She loves it!

Funny enough my Estelle was the same colour on the video pea green. Gosh that's taken me back

My first new car was a skoda estelle 130gl in a slightly darker green. E95 UCY. oil pump gave up and seized engine after 4 years beyond economical repair. Great fun, super handling.

I was torn between a kid sportage and hyundai tucson. Decided to go with tucson. Glad I did because kia released a face-lift of the sportage not long after I ordered.

Anyway, I love the tucson. It's a PHEV automatic. Previously I drove Qashqai diesels and was happy with them, but this tucson is a joy to drive.
