Hi guys iv just done a youngs lager and was wondering if anyone can help me. Iv took a reading before I added the yeast can anyone tell me by looking at my photo what my SG is I just carnt understand it
Sorry to sound a bit stupid but I need a good site so I can learn how to read it right

Hope it's a trick of the photo but look like a large jug of beer wasted for a reading :rofl:

I think you should aim for around 1040 - 1050. How much sugar did you put in ?
 
Yeah the jug is a bit overkill, are you pouring it back in or something?

Could use a fair bit more sugar if that's the OG.
 
Hi guys the jug as u call it came with the hydrometer so I can only think its ok for the job? I put 1kg of dextrose as the kit described. do you think it will be ok

That sounds like the right amount of sugar. How much liquid did you put in? My understanding is that your beer won't be that alcoholic .


We are both joking about the jug, it just looks huge in your picture. Most test jars are very thin.
 
Lol ye I no you was :) I put 22L in as told to by the kit but it was warm at the time so may be the reading was a bit false?
