JUST TO BE CLEAR MY KEGS HAVE BEEN BOUGHT FROM CRUSADER KEGS i been using a sanke keg to ferment for about 2 years now no trouble and thought i'd pass on the secret how
i took a keg drilled a hole in the retaining clip so i could get a hold with a screwdriver and remove it then unscrew the spear
drilled 2 1/2" holes in the top for airlocks (i make a lot of turbo vodka so 2 are essential)
flipped it over and drilled a hole in the bottom (i forget what size now) for a ball lock valve in the centre
then i built a frame to hold the keg up at height (i'll post pics later) a simple way to describe it is a table with a hole in the top for the valve (i just cut a long pallet in three and made a u shaped frame then put a top on it with a hole in middle for valve
i put this over my toilet put keg on top put 5 litres of mixed line cleaner in put spear in and plugged airlock holes up with the seals that come with grommits i got from a homebrew website
i gave the whole thing a really good shake and left it for 20 mins (way i see is if this stuff is good enough to clean the mankiest of beer lines it can easy handle my keg
open the tap let the gunk go straight down toilet haha
close it fill it with cold water and open tap again
to keep it at a nice temp i found that brew belts werent long enough i used to put the keg in a large trugg with a fish tank heater but after i thought of putting a tap under in the centre obvs i couldn't d that any more so i wrapped a hose pipe around it then wrapped cling film around that to hold it in place then i wrapped tin foil around that to reflect the heat back then duct tape around that to protect it i plugged one end in a small water pump (cheap as chips from ebay usb powered ones will do but need some help starting them by sucking other end till the start pumping through)
put pump other end of pipe and fishtank heater in a bucket under the keg and off you go :)
