Since I started brewing from kits, I've always poured the yeasty trub left over onto my compost heap which is an enclosed bin type. Can I say with certainty its a fool proof way of breeding fruit flies ! After 3 days of hot sunny weather I lifted the lid of the bin today and I was completely enveloped in the annoying creatures. I left the lid off the bin while I retired to the house to clean my nice white shirt of the little darlings. On my return I found 4 or 5 house sparrows hovering above it and obviously feeding well ... I left them to it for a few hours and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

If I can help somebody.... as I go along my way.......
