It depends on what it is I suppose. I paid nearly £7 for a 330ml bottle of Founders KBS the other day, I'll let you know if it was worth it

My son took me to a nice pub near Mayfair recently. Don't worry I said, Ill get these what do you want ?
OK Fosters for you and a glass of that craft bitter for me then.
I got out a tenner and said to the barman, " I don't suppose there will be any change"
The answer was...
NO

now that's a tumble weed moment

There was one of those cereal bars in Kingston, where I work, for a while. But it closed down. They blamed it on the council not supporting small businesses enough.

Nothing to do with charging £5 for a bowl of American novety breakfast cereal, of course :lol:

I remember seeing the news about that I think. people protesting outside demanding another pound land type shop

18 months left working n living in the smoke......then its me, the Mrs and the mut hotfooting it to the countryside.....can't bloody wait....

after seeing the sites there really isn't much goin for London is there. Alan partridge described it as a crime ridden sesspit. this is obviously his character making a joke but if you really look at it, he's not too far off accuracy.
unless there's someone on here that can have a valid point London is the place to be that is..

£5 For a pint of Peroni here in Stirling
£2 for a small plastic cup of water at Celtic park last Saturday.
Ah Peroni will cost a quid or two down here in good ol London Town:lol:

I used to feel like that about London but I love visiting now, so much to see and do, so many places to eat and drink (even if the prices are steep) and it's really easy to get around.

Lots of things are expensive here (the pubs, housing, etc) but I think I'd get bored living in the countryside. The thing about London it there is a huge amount of stuff (to do) packed into a relatively small area. For me I love city cycling and going to area's of London I havent been to or taking new routes to places I have. I also like Art exhibitions, I dont think I would see half as many exhibitions as I do if I didnt live here. London is also an amazgly green city if you know where to look (especially in the boroughs around the edge)
I think the trick to London living is finding your own space and finding ways to live here that suit you. To give you an example, rush hour. London rush hour on both the roads and public transport is sheer hell. So I have job where I'm commuting outside of London hours. I only travel through rush hour once every two weeks and that is more than enough.
I think a lot of people perception of London is Central London, which can be hellish if your forced to be there all the time, but outside of central London it's a different city. I often think of London as a lot of small towns and cities all in one as one borough can be vastly different from another. The borough I live in (Southwark) is hugely different from the borough I work in (Kingston upon Thames)

I remember paying £7 for a 330ml bottle of beer in a central london bar, then was 15 years ago, god knows how much it is now!

My son lives in Paris and I go there once or twice a year for a few days. When he first went there about 8 years ago beer (usually Leffe, Guinness or Erdinger) was about 6.5 Euros, about £5.50 in real money. today the price is still only about 7 Euros in most bars but are 5 in happy hour between 6 - 9PM . That's about £4.00 so not too bad.

The prices have not really risen in 8 years although I am sure you could find some bars where 9 euros wouldn't buy you a glass of tap water even standing up. Cocktails are ludicrously expensive though at 10 - 12 Euros even in back street bars.

There is a growing presence of Craft beers in Paris and the bar where my son works has a Green king Hop Monster at 7.2% ABV for about 7 euros, the price is not too much for the French but they do not like beers so strong so not selling well ( besides it's Green King!!)

Are there many tattooed, bearded, tweed jacket and tight Jean wearing gentlemen in there? If so it's their fault!

Cheers

Clint

Was ot not those tattooed, bearded, tweed jacket and tight jean wearing gentlemen, who actually invented drinking ale????!!!!!! Oh no they were all lager swilling fashion junkies who thought it would be ever so"HIP" to suddenly don tattoos, grow a beard wear tweed jackets and tight jeans, and decide to drink proper beer, thus forcing the prices up! Cheers fellas!

Brewdog beers are expensive everywhere though, even in spoons it's £1.99 for a 330ml bottle.
I had one at the Hilton at gatwick before we went on holiday  It was so expensive I figured I'd payed for the nice glass it came in.
I'm still drinking from it now

Good job I don't wear tweed or tight jeans, otherwise my tattoos and beard would be offended.

It still costs about 1.75-9 for a small bottles of brew dog beers unless they put the price up so it looks like a better deal if you have to buy a few to get a decent price

Fife Road (I think). Opposite the train station, near the Greek or maybe Lebanese (?) restraunt

A lot of good places have been shut down or forced out by Kingston council so the major investors can do as they please - it's a sad state of affairs common place in this and an unnumbered many more :nono:
