How much yeast ?

Hello, I have just bought an old book with lots of brewing recipes in, having read through one of the recipes I am going to make it says add dried yeast, but not how much, although it does say use 4.5 litres (8 pints ) water. Can anyone tell me approx. how much yeast to use.

Home brew yeast either comes dried in sachets or as a liquid ready to use in 5 gallons, so 1/5 of a packet but I would use a whole packet, it doesn't cost much and you can save the resulting yeast at the bottom of the fermentor after it has brewed for the next one. :thumb:
