Hi guys

I want to start a batch of wine sometime today or tomorrow but im not quite sure how much CITRIC ACID to use.

I'v picked up 12x 1ltr 100% not from concentrate white grape juice and want to make the 3 gallons of wine.
Can anyone help please

Generally it is 1tsp per gallon. Are you planning on using just WGJ? I have read somwhere on the forum that wine made from pure WGJ is a bit lacking.

hi again alanywiseman

I was laughing at my self for being so dump hahaha. Yes im using the RIO DORIO white grape juice alanywiseman.

Is there a tipical grap juice out there that everyone uses ? and if so what is it that makes good wine from fruit juice.

thanks :thumb:

thanks :

If making WOW then i use chpest WGJ i can find. I am still to experiment to see if the quality of the grape juice at the start has a big impact on the flavour of the end product.

If you are going to make wine from just white grape juice go with Welches. It is made from a wine grape unlike other juices that are made from dessert grapes. Some white wine enhancer will defietly improve things but if you have not done a WOW i recommend doing one. It is a good place to start. :thumb:

The grape juice you buy from the supermarkets (whether or not from concentrate) is pressed from mostly dessert grapes, the ones you buy to eat.

The Grape Juice Concentrate (GJC) you buy from your homebrew shop or supplier, sometimes labelled as “wine enricher” for people who wouldn't know what GJC was, is pressed from mostly wine grapes, which you probably wouldn't want to eat.

Supermarket grape juices used in conjunction with other fruit juices can make some quite decent, easy table wines, and are an excellent substitute for water when used in other recipes, but will be fairly insipid if used on their own.

Thanks for your reply everyone :D

I'v already bought the WGJ so im going to go with what i'v got for now and will let u all know how it turns out and what i put into it. I will be sure to remeber Welch's next time out shopping.
But for now, it will be finger's crossed and hope for the best its not to mind blowing haha  .

Thanks everyone
