Coming off the back of the I drink too much thread I just wondered how many pints people put a way a week and how they manage HB quantities?

I used to have 11 or so a week but thought it was maybe a bit too much so cut it down to 8ish a week end of last year except for special occasions such as Birthdays and holidays ect

Maybe I shouldn't worry too much about these things too much

I've always used this as a rule - when I drink I tilt my head back until my mouth is pointing at the ceiling. When I can't pour any more in without it overflowing I know I've had enough....

That actually reminds me when I was younger at parties we used to have a bottle bong which would basically flush a whole 330ml bottle into your mouth in one.

You needed a massive burp after that!!

Ever done a shotgun?!

Prob drink 20ish pints at home bit more if I go out weekend. Dont think HBrewing makes me drink more but its hard to keep stocks lol

Between. 1 and two 500ml bottles per night. With one day off. So I guess 10-11 pints on average. I used to work in cardiac rehabilitation. We always recomended one day off it per week. And stick below the weekly limit for man/woman.

Having said that there was never a scientific process to the units/ week. What they did was pitch a figure that they thought people would go for.

Def drink more now though, and it's not even summer yet!

I think the weekly NHS recommendation is a bit plucked out of the air.

21 units for a man is only what 8 -10 pints or ordinary beer:???:

I reckon just about none of us stick to under that

Yes we made it up in the UK as the Gov't didn't want an epidemic of liver failure in 20-30 years time in the absence of any real data. They erred on the side of caution. I came across a W.H.O. report that put the safe figure at 35UK units or less a week.

My average is 35.1 units a week recorded since 2002 on a spreadsheet. In the last year it's been 36.6. I don't normally drink mon-wed either. Xmas/easter and a holiday in Belgium though normally spell trouble.

low score 21 units in a week, high score 79 units, as a rule i aim for less than 33 units a week.

As I drink different strength beers in different amounts I find that recording it on a spreadsheet keeps it all tickety boo.

I tried a few of my beers last night that the nice chaps on here helped me with must have drunk the 21 units in one night:-o

So this isn't like when the doctor asks you how much you drink and you add it all up and halve it to sound more reasonable?

I usually have between 1 and 3 pints a day and almost never have a day off. There again I usually avoid anything much over 4%. So if I average 2 a day, that would be 28 or so units. Doesn't sound so bad...
