Hi, Im new to this, and i am going to ferment the youngs bitter in a fermenting bucket for 1 week then siphon it to a plastic pressure barrel.
Does anybody know how long the beer will last in it?
Regards Luke

Had mine in a king keg over 6 months without any issues

That was a youngs bitter kit made with with a brewing sugar/spraymalt mix

Thanks all, well i rarely drink due to operating rail vehicles as weekends so i only have a couple of pints a week, but i homebrew to save money. So i will invest in some co2 cartridges and keep it topped up with those when its starts to get a little flat.

It's said that beer starts to lose quality (unless it benefits from age) after 3 months. I can't see it being noticeable though. 2 years and you might wanna be careful.

Answer b - depends how often you have your friends round :P

dont worry, 6 months is max, less if i go camping haha, i know some age their beers for 6 months so hopefully it will be fine

Not being funny but why go down the barrel and co2 route when you can blag some empty magners bottles for free from your local boozer, Get a cheap capper from your homebrew shop along with a bottle buddy. And bottle it all....

If you are brewing to save money bottling is by far the cheaper option and will keep your ales in tip top fettle.....

well i plan on doing both, what i was going to do is do 2 batches, one in bottles one in a keg and see which tastes better

well im going to our wilkinsons today so if they have a bottler i will buy that and a spigot for my bucket and then bottle it
