How Hot Will my 24vac SSR get?

Hi, I have a SSR that will switch a 24VAC 0.2A Honeywell Gas valve on and off during the brew cycle. I have not mounted it on a heat sink, and am now wondering if that was a good idea, it has not got hot, but I haver not run it for very long, as it is not running the power for a heating element, will it get hot?

I very much doubt it'll need a heatsink with a light load like that. :thumb:

The only time ours gets hot is when the hlt is heating water and its on constantly.

I do not know the details of your system, but, if it is in close proximity to a strong heat source, would a heatsink not cause more problems than it solves - the thermal transfer from the heatsing heating up the SSR if it is cooler than the heatsource?

A heat sink would only be needed in my opinion if your ssr was running on 240 v

As Kevin Wood said with a 0.2A draw I wouldn't be concerned about heating...average kettle elements draw 10-12 amps.
