do you mean left over hops or ones youv'e boiled....

Assuming you get your hops in vac sealed bags, then yes, any leftovers should be lobbed in the freezer. Certainly that's what I do with mine and they seem to keep quite well.

Hops after a brew...that get spread around the beds in the garden, the spent grain into the compost heap. I did use spent grain as a compost enhancer this year, mixing it about 30% to compost to use with the tomato plants; with the weather what it was I can't say if it made a difference but the plants didn't seem to mind (and I did get plenty of tomatoes).

Why did you put the hops straight into the beds? I've recently started composting and have been putting both grain and hops into the compost bin.

I had been composting them in the heap previously, but seeing as the beds are all done now for winter, I just lob them on top and will work them in as I dig them before the frosts come and let them jsut decompose stright in. After boiling I'm sure they will break down quickly enough!

I mean unused from previous brew that have been chucked in freezer. Do I have to defrost or just weigh and pitch.

Not a big difference, especially if they were dried first. If they were fresh (i.e. had water in them) then it could cool the boil down a bit.

I would just weigh and pitch...
