Hop Walk

Hi All

I was lucky enough to go to the annual Charles Faram Hop Walk yesterday. Met Phil from Wibblers (albeit very briefly) and generally had a good time.

A large flocculation of brewers:

Hops growing. These here are Target.

Some Goldings

Being taken in and put on the machinery

Cones being stripped from the bine - they use air to flap the leaves out and strip them.

The kiln to dry them

Mmm.

The all important bar :party:

Somebody may have mentioned that these are going to Youngs Homebrew

Also picked myself up a bine of Goldings (8 quid!) which I will be using to do an impromtu brewday in the next couple of days.

As a side note, there is a new experimental hop around now called Beata. My first impressions of it in a beer was a very nice sort of bubblegum taste. I don't however recall what AA it was but I'm going to get hold of 5kg to play around with. PM me if you want some.

It was just outside of Hereford.

And no, you'd struggle to lift it. Although I may have had a try...
