Hi can anyone kindly recommend a good book for the beginner, I like the look of Greg Hughes Home Brew Beer.

Thanks

+1 for Greg Hughes book, the other standard is graham wheelers brew your own british ale, which I've also got but I think Hughes book has a more interesting selection of recipes in. They're much the same from the advice perspective, maybe Hughes again is slightly better. Though if you're intersted in brewing british Classic ales, go wheeler (clues in the title really).

Neither get very far into the science or advanced stuff.

I got Greg Hughes recently. I think it's a good starting point for extract and grain brewing. And it's given me some recipe ideas.

It depends what you're after. For a whistle stop tour then Greg Hughes' is good but it'll not tell you everything you need to know imo. John palmers will tell you more than you ever need to know but could be a little difficult to digest.
