So I bought this thing so that I could add a drain to the bottom of my thermobox:
http://www.amazon.de/dp/B007CT7FV4/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20
and I'm pretty sure that I ordered the 1/2" version of this, but here I sit with the 3/4" version of it in my hand.

I suppose I could try to send it back and ask for a new one, but I'd really rather not mess with that. Instead I suppose I'll have to buy a new hole punch, but I'm not sure which one to get.

I measured the diameter of the thing and it seems to be around 26mm or 1 inch, but I'm not sure because all I have is some crappy tape measure. Would any of you fittings experts out there happen to know which hole punch I should get?

I'm guessing that I need this one:

if its your first venture into things bsp 1/2" isnt the diameter measurement, do google n wikipedia for a better eplaination than i can give.

for a 1/2" bsp fitting you want a hole 20-21mm 20mm may need a little widening, depending on the fitting.

tho 28mm sounds a bit big and does sound closer to 3/4" bsp. 1" bsp equates to a 32.5mm diameter..

Well, thats what I mean. I ended up getting the 3/4" fitting on accident, so I need to know the hole size for it. I'll go with the 1" hole then. Thanks!

Have a look at This site L, it sounds like they've sent you the wrong one. I can't make 'heads or tails' of their site or measurements
1/2': Länge: 62 mm | Kopfdurchmesser: 39 mm | Wandstärke bis 45 mm | Innnendurchmesser: 13,5 mm
According to them a 1/2" inner bore is 13.5mm, it should be 12.7MM :wha:

It means thought that you'll need to step down from 3/4" to 1/2" if you've bought the other fittings already :hmm:

Yea, I noticed that too. I measured the inside and it did seem to be smaller than 13.5mm, but like I was saying earlier I only have a crappy tape measure. It's not the most accurate tool for this job.

I hadn't already bought the other fittings when it arrived, but I do now have the 3/4" fittings for the rest of the project. If I had already bought those 1/2" fittings, I surely would make a stink and complain to the people on amazon that they shipped me the wrong part.

On top of this, I have a block of time set aside in two weeks for when I plan to do this conversion. I don't really want to wait forever while sending the complaint, mailing the things back to them, and then waiting for them to mail me the right part. I might not have the part in time to do this when I want.

Thanks for the help! Hopefully this 1" hole punch will be the right size. I'll test it on a junk pot first.

EDIT: I just sorted through my emails and I'm now sure that I DID order the 1/2". Oh well. I'm still not going to waste my time making a fuss about things.
