Hi all,

I've been using a 25-or-so litre bucket as a brew kettle, fitted with a couple kettle elements and a copper tube running through to a ball valve (using compression fittings). The tube has holes drilled in to act as a hop filter. I'm wanting to acquire a larger brew kettle, and I'm thinking of doing the same thing, just using a bigger bucket. I'll use the current kettle as a hot liquor tank. As such, it seems that I don't really need all the copper tube/valve, etc, and I could remove it and fit it to the new kettle. My question is, does anyone have a recommendation for what to use to drain the hot liquor tank? Since no filtration is needed, I was thinking maybe just a tap and backnut or similar? I guess the plastic ones that Young's make might not be suitable for higher temps. Can anyone recommend a part(s) that would be suitable? I have a 20mm hole drilled in the HLT. Many thanks.

do u need a tap at all??

how about a valantines arm ;) free spinning JG fittings were made for these ;)
you just need some method of maintaining the angle/level of the arm securely.

depends on how much tube u have ;)

or even just a soft tube attached to the drain port secured above the liquid level, and crimped for flow control for sparging if needed?

Thanks, guys. That tank connector looks good. Don't have the tubing for the valantine arm at the mo.
