I have on the go an Old English Ale with an OG of 1.077, I used a CML real ale yeast and now after taking two readings I am getting 1.023@ 20C. I was thinking it should get lower than this. This gives me an ABV of approx. 6.9% where as beersmith says it should be about 7.8%. I am guessing it may be stuck or the yeast is finished without converting everything. My question is what next? do i try and stir the wort gently in hope of raising yeast activity or do i add more yeast?
