Well,

Been on this forum for a while now and do believe that I was on a live chat last night but can't find it anywhere.

Just brewed a young's kit and it's ok, a little unclear, strong enough in the alcohol dept, not much carbonation and was wondering if I brewed a Stout as the next batch, instead of moving to the pressure barrel for secondary fermentation can I just leave it in there until ready for bottling?

Thanks,

Breako McNasty

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You are best moving you beer into a secondry fv. Once you have had a constant FG reading for a couple of days leave it a few more at fermentation temp and the transfer to you barrel and put it somewhere cool for a week. Then you can bottle.

This way you are getting the beer of the yeast and debris and allowing it to clear by leaving it somewhere cool.

Leaving it at fermentation temp after it has apparently stopped fermenting is also important as it allows the yeast to metabolise some of the unwanted by products it may have produced earlier in fermentation.
