Newish brewer, new to site.

I currently just use kits, mainly beers and wine. My old man did homebrew for years and him giving me his kit got me started. So far about 10 beers and 5 wines done and just about to get my first stout in.

Hi mate.
I'm sure many people will recommend a book First Steps in Wine Making by CJJ Berry. It's got loads of really good recipes and some unusual ones! After a while you'll learn to adapt the recipes to your own ideas.

I always do beer from kits, but I'm not so keen on the wine kits, often turning out a bit bland and insipid. I do my own country wines, having great days out foraging for fruit in local parks and nature reserves. A lot of recipes in the book I mentioned use things you can pick up from the local grocer's or supermarket.

I'm a red drinker myself, and rather than a kit I use half small bottle of grape concentrate, kilo of sugar and about four cartons of cheap grape juice from the shops!

Nice One!,
Paul.
