Hey all, my name is kevin and im looking to start brewing my own real ale/stouts. I was wondering whats the best way to do this,.

I want to make a ginger stout and all the kits you see are just stout. can you add grated ginger in a muslin bag and add it at the beginning of the fermenting stage.

Look forward to hear from you soon.

Welcome to the forum I would think that you might be better off boiling a tea with it separately and adding it to the stout wort. It's something have never tried but that's how I would try to do it. Perhaps someone else on here might be able to give a more definitive answer

Welcome to the Forum Kevin.
If you've not brewed before, I would suggest you only do what it says on the tin before you start "tweaking" :D

ginger stout.... sounds like a great idea! if it were me I'd bung in about 40 - 50g with about 10 mins of the boil to go!

nice to meet you!
