As I've only recently joined the Home Brew Forum, I thought I'd put up a picture of my setup. So here's a photo of my home-made stainless steel brewery in all its glory. The picture shows: 2 Baby Burcos HLTs, 70L boiler, 50L boiler, 50L mash tun, immersion cooler. I generally brew in 7 gallon batches and barrel it in plastic horizontal 6.25 gallon 'piggy' barrels - which I don't think you can get now. Being horizontal I think they mimic better the way beer should be kegged instead of the more usual upright plastic barrels. The 70L boiler gives me the option of brewing larger quantities if I need to. I use the solar type 12v pumps to move all the various liquids about - the pots are so heavy when full that it is impossible to lift them! I've just bought a 23L stainless steel Cornie and a pub handpump and I will be doing a Spitfire clone as my first use of gassed dispense.

Very nice brew porn.
The copper waist coat at the front looks like some sort of torture instrument.

Nice idea of using the ladder as a bench.

Very nice indeed.. I'd be interested in a pic of your old barrels as well :thumb:
Here's one of them. I have three all together. Bought them in the early 90's, but Ritchie don't make them anymore.

The extra valve on top is a Woods cycle tyre valve which I use as a cask breather if required.

Amazing looking setup! :thumb:

Quick question, what are the small cyclinders sticking out of the sides of the boilers? Are they where the leads plug into the elements?

They are stainless steel element shrouds for 40mm 3kW kettle elements. They screw onto the kettle element thread.

Thanks - never seen one of those before, they look good :thumb:
They work much better than the upright barrels and the beer seems to settle quicker. Their main drawback is the footprint size - they take a lot of space up on the worktop!
