Hello all
Just about to brew and putting the hops through the calculator.
Plan is for the gh black ipa. Recipe 30g of 19.5% apollo at start to give 44 ibu,I only need 25g of my 15% pellet to get this.
Is it because I'm using pellets? Same with second addition.
Recipe is full ag ,no malt extract as I know this throws the calcs;full boil volume...I'll nip down the allotment shop while I wait!

Cheers

Clint

I just put that rciepe in Brewmate and the IBU calculation looks to be wrong. I get 77.8 IBU (using tinseth to calculate IBU's). Even if I change it to leaf hops from pellet it still comes out at 70 IBU

Cool :thumb:

Also FG/ABV% is wrong. The reciepe says OG 1.054/FG 1.018 which is only 4.74%ABV (when it states an ABV% of 5.1% - you'd need an FG of 1.015/72% yeast attenuation for that) and yeast attenuation of 67%. What yeast are you using as you may well end up with a beer stronger than anticipattd
