hi, don't download any spyware progs, they arte normally loaded with some, to get you to buy the program!
All i use is tune up utilities, and ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com)
and kaspersky internet security, for you, i would try getting avg free edition, www.grisoft.com
Failing that, your anti virus should have got rid of it anyways???
Do you have a anti-virus then??

kasperskey Internet Security here as well.

Used to use AVG, but when I tried kaspersky If found a lot of Malware/spyware missed by AVG . . . That was two years ago so AVG has probably improved since then.

I wouldn't touch Norton with a Barge pole

I'll second the advice about Norton, the first thing i advise anybody is delete anything Norton related off your computer. I have used AVG free which is an excellent for free anti virus, i then tried AVG internet security which is really good and now i'm trying Kaperski but i only have it a couple of days, the only problem i've found so far is that if i run a scan it cripples my pc til it's done :? but it did pick up a virus i didn't know about

To effectively rid a PC of nasties it's important to firstly turn off system restore and then reboot the PC.

To turn off System Restore
Open System Properties. Ensure that the Turn off System Restore check box is selected. Note; To open System Properties, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System. In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab and turn off system restore on all drives.

This is because whilst you might be able to remove the nasties that AV/AM software finds it will often repopulate itself from the volume restore archive.

I suggest that you use MBAM to rid yourself of nasties as a next step, http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php this is very respected software and will not harm your pc.

Lastly, I don'tknow what AV product you are using but it's obviously not up to the job so uninstall it and install the free version of Avast http://www.avast.com/ you will have to register for the free version but it won't cost a penny and they don't spam you.

Perform a full scan on reboot with Avast (it's the default operation) and you should be OK.

I have found that hiding the PC's behind a decent NAT router/hardware firewall (often less than the cost of a commercial firewall program!!) and using Avast has kept my home network free of nasties for many years. My experience of getting rid of nasties comes from fixing friends pc's that don't listen to good advice.
