Yesterday morning I bottled my brewferm Framboos, I want to get started on my next brew but I cannot get rid of the smell of raspberries from the plastic FV.

So far I have tried several rinses with VWP, fresh water, boiled water, left it overnight soaking in oxy cleaner and rinsed that out several times, but it still smells like the previous brew..It seems as though no matter what I try the smell is determined to stay.

Can anyone suggest anything that will get rid of this? my only concern is that if it still smells like raspberries then surely this would impart some sort of off flavour in the next brew? :wha: :wha: :hmm:

I have not had this problem before and any help would be gratefully received, Thank you

I wouldn't worry, just think how much aroma compounds are in 5 gallons of wort compared to what is on the surface of a fv negligible I would say.

After a soaking in Oxy stuff over night and a quick bleach I could still smell my framboos in the FV. With no other option I just brewed AG1 in that FV and didnt notice any flavour or smell in the finished beer.

It did take over night soak to get rid of the pink colour tho!

I was hoping you would see this darcey, I assumed you would of had the same problem.

Well that means tonight is wherry night! :thumb:

I tried oxy, bleach, richies cleaner, WMP boiling water! Nothing worked but the FV was as clean as it could be! I think the plastic just absorbed some of the smell but I have used the FV many times after and it wasnt detectable after that AG was brewed. :thumb:
