Hi all I'd like to do a wyeast starter, can someone please advise me on the amount of maris otter I have to mash to get the right gravity for the wyeast,it's for 3 litres will split into 6 / 500ml bottles.

If you really want to mash to create the wort for your starter, you'll need around 600g of pale malt to get an OG of 1.040 ish in 3L :thumb:
I have in the past used a Thermos flask to successfully mash small quantities of malt ;)
 
I have some starters that i've grown on to split, I used 200g DME in 2L
