Hi everyone

Been brewing for a while now and so far so good.

However, with my latest brew (Muntons Traditional Bitter), the barrel has sprung a leak. It is leaking from the join between the tap and the barrel body. It has been in the barrel for a week. I have noticed that the barrel has balooned so much that the bottom is like a football!!!!

I have a spare barrel I can syphon the beer into.

Do I have to add more sugar to the brew?
If so, how much?

or

Can I re-gas using CO2?

Cheers, any help greatly appreciated!!!

if you search you might come across a thread i started with the same problem, in short i tightened the tap as much as possible as i found when it started to pressurize it changed shape and leaked, i just gave mine a tighten then left it, its fine now!!

Hi, maybe try some vaseline on the O'ring if you can get to it, tho sounds like your barrel's had it, consider a thick pressure barrel with a float valve (about £45.00) then you can always inject some c02, I've had no problems with mine. you should be ok not to add any additional sugar but might have to leave it an extra week.
