Hi, used to brew years ago, now just started again, now making two kits,
youngs Country Definitive Elderflower, and a Beaverdale Barolo,
One question, would it be okay to use the sterilise baby bottles products on your homebrew equipment,
If not, whats the best product out there?

Hi Joe, and welcome to the forum

Yes, you can use Milton and other similar ‘own brand’ products (which are usually significantly cheaper) but they are chlorine based and your bottles or equipment need thorough rinsing afterwards, especially plastics.

There's a useful guide to your cleaning options here: >>click<<

Edit: I've just noticed that guide omits Milton-type products, but they should be regarded as similar to thin household bleach.

Hi Joe,

I'm relatively new here myself so don't take my word as gospel but.... I have used Milton fluid, tablets and Tesco own el cheapo version of Milton tablets for the last 18 months with no issues. It says on the packet no need to rinse so being a lazy git I generally don't bother. I haven't noticed any off tastes in any of my brews so far and no lost brews due to infection yet

Anyhoo, that's my two penneth, and welcome to the forum

:edit: I do only brew wine, beer may be a whole different story
