Hey everyone,

I have just joined this forum and am excited to start talking about brewing, my new found passion.

My name is Will brett I am 21 years young and am a product design student at sussex university. I am originally from shropshire, where my step dad has his own small home brewery. I now live in brighton because of uni and because its such an amazing lively city.

In my first year of university i decided (half heartedly) to brew some moonshine :S This was more of an experiment than a serious attempt at brewing a tasty beverage. It went pretty badly and exploded in my clothes cupboard. Which not only woke me and my flat up in the middle of the night but stank my room out and pretty much ruined my clothes.

2 years later...slightly more mature and with better taste in brews i have gotten all excited about the prospect of brewing my own beers and wines. So far i have started fermenting some mead, Its bubbling away really nicely and is smelling amazing. I decided to go for mead first instead of my favourite BEER!! :D because I dont have the money for my microbrewery yet, key word being yet ;).

Looking forward to the potential visit to DarkStar Brewery... one of my favourites.

Anyways feel free to message me for any reason.

Will

Hi, welcome to the forum. Have a look at BIAB, Brew In a Bag if you are short on space and cash, all you need is the boiler and a voile bag to hold the grains.

I would normally say kits are a good way to start, but it sounds like you already know you want to do All Grain type brewing, but without the equipment then some beer kits may be a good way to get into it for the time being.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply.

I'm planning on getting a kit tomorrow, With my budget being about £100. Is this too low? Iv noticed that there are kits like the coopers brew kit, but i don't want a kit that can only use beers kits to brew which i suspect this kit does. I want a kit that I can experiment and make my own beers from authentic natural ingredients. As i think using a beer kit to make someone else beer kind of defeats the point of brewing your own.

Are there any kits you recommend?

Thanks

Will
