Welcome to the Forum.
Is your intention to make cider from apples, a bit late in the season now, or to make it from supermarket apple juice (TC)?

Hi I started making my cider in Oct :)

I have filled 3 demi johns with different apples from the garden 1 is a green eating apple not sure which though it looks like golden delicious but tastes like a granny smith

the other is from just bramley apple and the 3rd is a mix of bramley and another unknown apple tree but also a cooking apple

the one I started in oct is looking really good but I think my bung is stuck :( I am not sure if I can load pics if I find out how to I will add pics of all three :)

thanks for the warm welcome :)

Have you added any "Pectolas"?
Mix a portion of all 3 together for a fourth flavour.

I don't know what pectolas is I am new 2 this cider making hehe I used apples, wine sugar, camden tablet and yeast

I will be using a full mix next year after tasting the cider this yeald so I can try work out the best mix from our apples :) we have so much fruit and it's a shame 2 see it wasted every year ...... we have pears also so I will try them next year along with some beer :)

I think one of my ciders is ready to bottle up I looked at it before and its looking great how do I know when it is ready?

my 1st batch was done in oct I don't know when it's ready its a see through golden colour

the 2nd and 3rd was 28th of nov there still very cloudy so still no way near :)

might bottle the see through one soon

ok I will test it tomorrow with hydrometer and see what it reads :)

thanks :)

what sugar? caster? granulated? wine? :/

Apples contain "Pectin", which if untreated will produce a strong haze in your end product.
Pectolas destroys the Pectin, so you should finish with a clear cider.

oh noooooooo do you mean it will taste musky like deep flavour or horrible flavour lol I did add a camden tablet is that the same?

the oct one is like a very clear wee colour if thats a useful guide :)

Is this the site you pay to add pics I can't find where to add pics or to upgrade account to do so

Pectin does not affect the taste, it just looks bloody awful.

Pics are free, you need to open an account with something like photobucket (also free), up load your pics to it, then copy the IMG URL into your post.

ok here is the cider at beginning
