Hello everybody. I am very new to all this, but I remember when I was just a lad my Dad brewing a barrel of lager and another of bitter for the annual family Christmas party. I fancied a new hobby and this year my old man bought round a couple of his old demi johns and two wilko wine kits for me to make (Chardonnay and Rose).

I really enjoyed this and now have a an array of starter kit with a Wherry and a Cider on the go too. I have already got a further pinot grigio and elderflower kit waiting for the demi johns to be vacated and a Headcracker too.....really looking forward to Christmas this year.

I'm not expecting to set the brewing world on fire yet, but if I end up with at least some drinkable beverages I will be more than happy.

The kids are loving this too and it's turning into a bit of a family hobby now, just a shame they're too young to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Many thanks to those of you who answered my first panicky question, I'm hoping I've got the ales and cider sorted now, another ten days or so in the fermenter, then off to the barrel they will go.

Cheers for the tip on stonehelm I like to try and shop local and independent where I can.
