Afternoon all. Been a lurker of these forums for the last year and thought it was about time I got involved and said my genuine thanks for all the tips/tricks/info/recipes that people have posted here.

Started brewing around March/April with a Northern Brewer Block Party Ale starter kit which I can wholeheartedly recommend if anyone is thinking of starting from scratch or giving as an Xmas present to the aspiring brewer. Only £80 on Amazon now which I think is a steal for all the kit including a boil kettle! I've stuck with that and added a few items including a bag (for BIAB), 2 x 16L fermenting buckets & bottles, and managed to knock out around 10 batches (+1 down the drain :() since the Block Party. After the original kit, dived straight into all grain using BIAB. Generally 12/13L batches which suits given that I brew and live in a flat & not blessed with storage space!

Mostly hoppy IPA's so far, as that's what seemed to disappear the quickest in the Summer, but also ventured into a sweet stout, and a coffee porter. The porter was a hit with friends, although they really love coffee so maybe that had something to do with it! I'd quite like to make a Christmas themed beer (with some Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Cardamom etc. added to the end of the boil) so if anyone has any good recipes, or made one previously, I would love to get their advice...

See you all around the forum...
Cheers!

welcome to the forum. I used to live in Dulwich a few moons ago. Up at the crossing between underhill rd and dunstens road. In a top floor flat as well so i understand your space constraints.

i would (if i were you) be looking for a well known and trodden recipe for something like this. And you HAVE to follow it religiously. Only because the balance of such spices needs to be bang on otherwise it turns into an instant drain pour.

Good luck in your future brewing adventures!

Welcome from another former Dulwich resident - spent my 20s supping in the Clock House; the EDT; and the Hat and Dog

Thanks all, and nice to hear from some ex Dulwich'ites! Been there a year now and well acquainted with the EDT and the Clock House - less than 5 min stumble from both.

Not sure if it was there when you were both living there, but there is an excellent craft beer shop on East Dulwich road called Hop Burns and Black. Well worth a visit if you're ever back this way.

Noted on the xmas beer Hoddy, thanks - will do some research this weekend!
